How We Shot a Fall Photoshoot in the Summer
Fall shoot in the summer was an idea my wife came up with on the fly. She wanted to start early with getting her content for her new blog and her skincare line Aikym Essentials. First we knew we had to find a location with that fall scenery and we lucked up with finding one with barrels, a shed, and just that old rustic look that went great with her outfit. The location was close to our home which is in Middletown, DE.

Next I knew we were going to shoot in the Daytime so I needed a light to over power the sun and give me that dramatic fall feeling, so I brought along my go to lights and that’s my Godox Ad200’s. I used two Ad200’s for this shoot with a Godox AD-B2 dual power twin head. What this does is it allows me to get 400ws of power to over power the sun to get that dramatic look as if there was no sun out. This type of lighting is called High Speed sync lighting. If you search YouTube you will find some great information about this particular kind of lighting.

After figuring out my lighting it was time to choose the lens I would be shooting with. In order for me to get her full body in the frame and get some of the location I knew I needed a wide angle lens. The only wide angle lens I have in my bag is my Canon 35mm 1.8 RF lens. This was perfect for this shoot, I could get majority of the location in the frame and get a blurred background with the 1.8 wide aperture that the 35mm RF lens offers.
As you can see from the above pictures she’s a natural model and I had to offer little to no posing tips. I’m so satisfied with how the pictures turned out and look forward to creating more images like this. If you have any questions about the equipment or my lighting setup please feel free to reach out to me. I love teaching others.
