First Week with Canon EOS R

A little background on me, I started Photography over two years ago with a Canon T6i and started shooting my family. Just like every other photographer it starts off as a hobby and quickly it becomes a business when people offer you money to do their photos. After shooting with the T6i for about six months I invested into the Canon 7d Mark II. I absolutely love this camera and still have it as my backup; but at this point in my business I found that when shooting my fashion shoots a crop sensor camera was hindering my capabilities. So I decided to buy a full frame camera and a week ago I purchased the Canon EOS R.

My first week with the Canon EOS R has been nothing but amazing. Coming from a Canon 7d Mark II it has been a major upgrade. I’ve always wanted to upgrade to a mirrorless camera but couldn’t bring myself to switching all my Canon lenses to Sony. Canon has changed the game with they new mirrorless camera and RF lenses. Not only is this camera smaller and comfortable in your hand it also allows you to use your Canon EF lenses with the purchase of an adapter that ran me about $80 from Amazon.

The photo below was capture with my 50mm 1.8 lens (Nifty Fifty) on the Canon EOS R. With the flip out touch screen and eye auto focus it’s kinda hard not to get a sharpe image. I also love the EVF (Electronic view finder) it lets you preview your image through the lens and it will come out exactly how you see it. So wether you need to bump up your ISO or change the shutter speed you can get the right exposure all before taking the shot. Another thing about this camera that blew me away was the DOF (Depth of Field) it’s so amazing as you can see below in the images it gives you that nice blurred background. I would never get this kind of DOF with my Canon 7d Mark II.

So if you’re on the market for a new camera and don’t want to get rid of your canon glass to go to Sony I highly recommend the Canon EOS R.

Please enjoy the pictures I shot on a rainy day with my baby girl and our new miniature poodle (Denver Alexander) with the Canon EOS R
